Surprise B-day Party!

Long time no blog...

Well, it's been a long time since my last post...
A lot of things have happend the last couple of months! Celeste turned one year old in October! I can't believe how fast she is growing! She can walk everywhere now and even go up and down the stairs which is really scary for me!
Anyway here are some pics from her B-day party at my house.

I knew she wasn't going to even touch any solid food, I just had to make a B-day cake for her! Everything is made from scratch and organic.

She hates balloons.

Like I imagined, she didn't even really touch her cake. Whenever her hands get dirty, she gets mad and she wants me to wipe her clean. So when is she going to start feeding herself? I have no clue.

Grandma and Celeste opening her presents. She didn't care about books or clothes or toy... She was just happy to hold a fork and a spoon.

Above all, the most important gifts from everyone was the scriptures that they shared with Celeste on these cards. The earliyer you learn about God's words, the better off your life would be, I think. I am going to make sure that she would get that and someday she can start her life with God. I'm so thankful to all the Christian friends and family who are in our life.

Pater Noster

Pater Noster

Pater Noster

Home Sweet Home

I have been enjoying our first family vacation in Japan right now. Aaron, Celeste and I left our home in US on 31st for Japan. Total of 15 hour-flight was well worth it now that we are with my parents in my hometown safely. We have been super busy with seeing friends, eating wonderful food and doing stuff with family. It was Celeste's very frist time to meet her grandma and grandpa in Japan and she loves her Japanese grandparents.

We are here only for 15 days but this has been a blast!

Here are some pics.

I got to spend Friday afternoon with some Japanese friends. Four mothers and 6 kids were gethered at Mayumi's house and we enjoyed good Japanese food while kids played.

Hiromi's almost 2 year old son was speaking Japanese really well after they spent 7 weeks in Japan. Her 8 year old daughter was already fluent and she can even read and right some Japanese and that's great for someone who doesn't have proper Japanese language school to go to in the area. I can tell that Hiromi is working really hard to teach them Japanese. After I saw the younger son speaking Japanese like a little normal Japanese child, I decided that's what I have to do no matter what! I got to take my kids to Japan as often as possible and stay there as long as Aaron allows us:P
There were two elementary kids and four kids that were from Celeste's age to almost two years old, so they are pretty close in age. I'm so excited about this. I couldn't imagine that I would have this many Japanese friends in this little country town and that we are getting together as friends and trying to teach Japanese to our children! I'm so thankful to God for preparing these wonderful people in my path.

We are starting baby Japanese class during the day while older kids go to school. I'm going to get to help and so happy about it.
I also hope that I can share my faith with them too!

July 11th was my 30th Birthday. I was sad to say good-bye to the 20s but also happy to have my birthday with my daughter for the first time. I hope I can continue walking the path to heaven the next ten years and lead Celeste in the same direction:)

Celeste's First VBS!

The VBS in our church started! It's is an exciting and fun time for us and in the area around church! Lots of kids are coming to learn about God and have lots of fun.

I am of course in the cradle roll class and being a helper for the precious babies! Celeste is enjoying her class very much.

I really think it's very important to teach children about God! It's hard to learn anything when you are older, you know. I hope Celeste learns a lot about God and be a Christian someday.
She is such a cutie and everyone in church loves her. She is friendly, too so she doesn't mind other people holding her. I love that, too and thanks to her I have been blessed with lots of chances to get to know other poeple in Church.

The Problem Solved...

So the variance problem that kept us from building our house on the land we were given from Aaron's dad has finally come to an end! We've been dealing with this for about 2 years now and now it's behind us. We can build our own house:)...once we have money...ha!

We hope we can build our house before we have third child. I was making my dream floor plan the other day and showed it to Aaron. Of course my floor plan was too big and expnsive to build and Aaron had to modify it greatly. I know I don't want a huge house because I hate cleaning... I don't want to spend too much time on cleaning and miss other things but some things are just super necessary such as full basement for storm and nice size laundry room... yeah I know I'm more and more americanized. But I swear we won't build a huge house with lots of waste spaces.

I just can't wait to have my own chikens again! This time I will have ones for eggs and the otheres to actually eat (so that I don't need to eat hormon enjected chickens from the store). Can't wait to have my own garden and stuff . But first of all, I need to overcome the fear of BUGS!!

Loving the weather and Farmer's Market

Turning Celeste

My Vision

A few nights ago in my church class, we talked about our vision as Christians. We all know what God wants us to do but sometimes we don't know how. We sometimes are not sure how we could serve him.

I thought I knew my gift was and that was to teach Bible to non Christians. When we were in Japan, people I worked with, most of my friends and my family were non belivers. Every person I met had chance to be saved and I just didn't want to miss the opportunities to tell them about Good News. I was never shy about sharing my faith with people. During the three years in Japan, Aaron and I taught Bible in English every Sunday afternoon. I also went to a friend's house during the week to study Bible with her. She is my sister, now:) We became good friends with those that came to Mito Church's outreach program; EBC and it was wonderful to see some of them change to become Christians. I felt this is what I am goot at for God.

Then we came back to US. Suddenly I didn't know what to do. I have lived in US before once but anytime moving to a new place is just hard whether to a next town or another country. Adjusting to new life and new church took some time. I can speak English fine but still it is sometimes hard becuase I am not a native. How people interact with each other is very different. So, on the way home from church I often say to myself like 'shoot, I could have said this instead of that' or 'I didn't express well what I wanted to say as well as I wished...' I was often discouraged by not being able to do what I used to do no problem.

I knew if I let those negative feelings control myself, I would have another depression like I had when I came to US first time. That's when i learned how selfish I had been and realized that I really needed Him in my life. I was somewhat more prepared this time because of that experience. I need to shift my focus from myself to God. That's what I prayed a lot since I came here. I'm trying to do anything that I think I can to serve Him. I may not look like I'm doing much but God will know that I'm at least trying.

I'm going to Japan this summer and praying that Aaron and I could lead my parents and anyone we see closer to God so that we all can go to Heaven.God has reason for me to be in US. I don't know all of them but I know that I just need to trust Him and do whatever I can to serve Him. Izu, Ganbare~!!

My wrists are better!

It’s been two weeks since I got cortisone shots on both of my hands. My pain is completely gone and I can pretty much do anything! I’m amazed. I didn’t really think it would work this good, so I’m happy with the result.
I played the piano the day before yesterday for a shot time. It was great.
I will try not to use my wrists too much and enjoy everyday life.

Diaper/

While I was still pregnant, Aaron suggested that we would use cloth diapers for Celeste. Since I hadn't thought about that kinda stuff and to me diapers meant disposal, I didn't like the idea. Aaron's been into healthy, earth friendly, and organic stuff, he researched about all the diapers and told me how important it is for us to use cloth diapers on Celeste.

I didn't like the idea of washing dirty diapers in toilet by hands and using cloth diapers when I go out. That would be too much trouble to deal with. So for a while I fought that I want just normal disposable diapers. I didn't know anyone who was using cloth diapers.
Well, Aaron promised me that he would be in charge of dirty diapers and he agreed that we would use disposable ones when we go out, so we decided to use cloth diapers at home.
He made me realize that we didn't have much money to buy so much disposable diapers and wipes, so there was no choice from the beginning, I guess.
We were both raised in cloth diapers. Learning about both disposable and cloth made me realize how good the cloth ones are for babies. I don't even like using the sanitary pads during the period because toward the end of the cycle especially in the summer, my skin gets irritiated. I can't imagine wearing them every single day for 2 years!! That's what babies have to do just because it's convenient for the parents. I didn't want put Celeste through that just because I didn't want make time to wash diapers.

Once Celeste came home from hospital, we started using cloth diapers. The bills for the water hasn't gone up much for the amount of laundry we do, so that's good news. I still hate washing diapers in tiolet but I'm used to it. I can get used to it without liking it, hahaha. Anyway, just looking Celeste's smooth cute bottom makes us happy that we decided to do this.

Celeste tells us that she wants to be changed pretty soon after she does her business, so we change diapers many times. We soak the wet ones in a pail with baking soda water. We put the poopoo ones to toilet to wash them and then we soak them in the pail. Once we start to run out of clean diapers, we wash them in the washer.
I also decided to use cloth pads for myself! Those disposable pads and diapers are made from pretty unhealthy stuff, so I am going to make change in my life, too. The disposable diapers we use for Celeste is all natural, non-chemical and I think they are made in England. It's sad that those cool stuff are not made here at all.

We use the wool covers. It's supposed to be cool in the summer and warm in winter. We wipe her with wet cotton towel with tea tree oil and use non chemical wipe with aloe at the end. This way we save for wipes, too:)

She's got an attitude!

She loves to look out the window while she is changed。
